Recent Food Discoveries
Some recent food discoveries:
- Kellog's All Bran with Extra Fiber cereal tastes like damp cardboard. Actually, the really objectionable thing about the cereal is not its taste (though the taste is not great), but the fact that it gets mushy in milk virtually instantaneously. Clearly, this is cereal for peole who don't like to chew. The surprise is not so much that this is the case, but that I entertained the notion that it might not be the case long enough to bring home a box of the stuff from the grocery store. (In my defense, I've been eating more cereal than usual lately, because it is the perfect way to round out a helping of all our wonderful summer berries into a complete breakfast. And as much as I like Kashi GoLean, sometimes I feel like changing things up a little.
- On the other hand, Nature's Path's Heritage Flakes are really tasty, if somewhat hard to find. (The problem seems to be that Nature's Path makes about 4 billion different kinds of multigrain cereal, of which your average store will only stock 5-10. Makes the odds tricky. However, one can buy online.)
- I have fallen in love with Eden Organic's roasted tamari almonds and pumpkin seeds. Enough to keep luring me back to the natural foods store in Palo Alto with the surly staff.
